More than just damage percent, it would probably be useful to have triggers for different weapon types, subsystem status levels and other fine-grained observations. This allows tutorials or dialog to occur when new weapons are introduced, or allows pilots to react in specific scenarios when engines are damaged, etc. (Think missions where you need to disable craft)
