First releases will purposefully avoid any scenario where capital ship turrets need be manipulated or fired. We still need them to be present on the models. This should be easily enough achived by extending cGETurret, or just using a new generic GE type which will be non-corporial and follow the parent "watching" it for !alive().
Based on how this goes it might be worth switching cGETurret to behave the same way. It might end up being cleaner with "forward watching" characteristics over the posession behaviour currently being used.
